The George Hotel, Hamburg

The new hotel “The George” opened on the 1st of October 2008 onBarcastrasse in Hamburg’s district St. Georg. Hotelier Kai Hollmannrefers to his mix of previously unaccustomed patterns, furniture andlighting as the “New British Style”.

The hotel’s website quotes “acollection of stylish, elegant rooms: a noble library, an Englishgarden and a private dining room. You will feel as if you are enteringa British membership club." The rooms are dominated by a lot of black, grey, silver, gold, bronze and sandy colours.

"It is the detailsthat account for the certain je ne sais quoi”, says Kai Hollmann, whotogether with the Hamburg interior designer Sibylle von Heyden and thelighting designer Tom Schlotfeldt has developed every detail of hisfourth design hotel himself or rather combined many ideas of histravels abroad. The lighting ideas that were then realised at Baulmannwere used in the 118 rooms and 7 suites as well as the restaurant ofthe hotel.
